Left of Bang: How the Marine Corps’ Combat Hunter Program Can Save Your Life
By Patrick Van Horne and Jason A. Riley - Black Irish Entertainment LLC © 2014 - 217 PAGES
If executive protection is the art of anticipating threats so that they can be avoided or mitigated, then Left of Bang is a must read.
The focus of Left of Bang is “combat profiling." A means of proactively identifying threats based on human behavior and cues from the environment. This requires the development of several skills: situational awareness, sensitivity of baselines and anomalies, critical thinking, and decision making.
Authors Patrick Van Horne and Jason A. Riley lay out the framework for making threat / no-threat calls, when time is of the essence.
I view this work as a supplement to “The Gift of Fear.” The authors of "Left of Bang" provide the reader with important tools for their protective assignments, and they build on many of the ideas that were laid out by Gavin De Becker.
